My Forever Friend

A sister is a forever friend.
Author unknown

Today a package arrived from my sister. It contained gifts for all of us, including the two you see above (for me!). Of course I was delighted to get the Yarn Harlot's calendar. And the fact that my non-knitter sister sent it to me shows how she pays attention and cares. The cross stitched picture is even more beautiful than it looks in the photo, but more important than that, it is something my sister made for me. She is always busy, and I have not known her to pick up a needle in a very long time, so I am humbled and honored that she would put in the time and care and love to make this for me. I will always treasure it.

I know if I have it framed and put under glass, it will be protected and stay clean. But what I long to do is make this into a pillow that I can hug close to my heart. And I have a feeling that is exactly what I am going to do.

Wow - I haven't been online in several days, and your blog has just stunned me! so many prettieS! I gotta go back and comment!!! :D
Your sister's gift is absolutely beautiful - so much work and such a perfect result!
my brother got me a little kit called 'Winter Knits' as my present - he's so sweet! I didn't think he'd noticed I was knitting and not crocheting that scarf! Isn't it nice when they really pay attention to what you like?

The pillow will be well loved and begin to show signs of wear. Just like the Velveteen Rabbit. Then it will be real!

Lovely gift!

I love Lizzie's comment. What a wonderful sister you have...she's the one you made the 50 cards for?

Oh, that brought tears to my eyes because I miss my sister a lot, even more so during the holidays, because we live so far apart...she does cross stitching, too, and makes things for me on occasion.

I received the calendar, also, from a dear friend whom I consider a sister, also. :)

As a cross-stitcher as well as a knitter, I appreciate all the work that went into that picture. She did a beautiful job and you must be soooo pleased!
