Whistle While You Work

Today was one of those days where as soon as I started working on something, we got another rush translation job and I had to drop everything and work.

I love it when that happens. (You do know I'm kidding, right?)

I did get some knitting done on the sock during my early-morning sock time, then again while I waited my turn at the dentist. And I made one card and started another. I have many cards to make for various reasons (thank you, get well, and general Hello!; not to mention it's time to make some more cards to send to Keiki Cards). But they won't get done today.

We worked on three separate translation projects today, which meant I not only didn't finish as many cards as I'd hoped, but I didn't work on my cross stitching, either! Ah well, "tomorrow is another day," as someone once said...

Several folks have expressed interest in the outcome of the World project. Sadly, our worlds didn't turn out well. The colors all ran together into one amorphous color and didn't look like much of anything special. I plan to look for some other fun projects to do with Meital in some of these books:

Simple Science Experiments With Everyday Materials, by Muriel Mandell
Family Fun Activity Book, by Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo!)
Step-By-Step Making Prints, by Deri Robins
Science Around the Year, by Janice VanCleave
The Paper Book: Fun Things to Make and Do With Paper, by Hannah Tofts
The Science Explorer, by Pat Murphy, Ellen Klafes, Linda Shore, and the Staff of the Exploratorium

Other favorites around our house include:
365 TV-Free Activities You Can Do With Your Child, by Steve and Ruth Bennett
Child's Play: 200 Instant Crafts and Activities for Preschoolers, by Leslie Hamilton
The Little Hands Art Book: Exploring Arts & Crafts with 2-to-6-Year-Olds, by Judy Press
Kids Create! Art and Craft Experiences for 3-to-9-Year-Olds, by Laurie Carlson
Make Cards!, by Kim Solga
Fun With Paint, by Moira Butterfield

Yes, I really do own all of those books. And one or two (or twenty) others. And we've actually done projects from almost all of them; with some books, we've done almost every activity in the book. After all, as the Cat in the Hat says, "It is fun to have fun but you have to know how."

There are also many great projects, ideas and patterns available for free on the Internet; and Family Fun magazine is always a terrific resource for activities, party ideas, kid-friendly recipes and just plain, well, fun!

By the way, yesterday's title was from a song by Earth, Wind & Fire. Great band. Great song.

Any guesses about the source of today's title?

Whistle While You Work!!! It's a song from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of crafting :>(

When I hear WWYW in my head, I picture the Snow White ride at Disneyland!

Didn't get a chance to congratulate you for winning the big prize over at NAS. I think I was snowed in in Dallas or something!
